Christmas Candles

Christmas candles are an important part of Christmas time, for decorative, religious and traditional purposes. Approximately 35 percent of candle sales are made during the Christmas season. Whether for gifts, decoration, or religious purposes, Christmas is a big time for candle use.

The history of the use of candles at Christmas traces back to the Romans in the 16th century. Since then Christmas candles have supported many customs across the world including Chanukah, Kwanzaa, Yule and many others in many different religions. Candles are also large contributors to various versions of the “festival of lights,” usually put on by religious or humanitarian groups.

Outside of traditional purposes, Christmas candles come in many different Christmas shapes and colors for decorative purposes. Pillar candles with red and green bows, oil lantern candles, battery operated candles for trees, and molded candles in the shape of Santa, snowmen, and Christmas trees all add more festivity to homes, churches, restaurants, offices, etc. during the holiday season. Decorative and scented candles are also great gift ideas.
