Pillar Candles

Pillar candles are usually unscented and almost always used strictly for decoration. They come in various colors and sizes that can stand alone or be grouped together. Most commonly, they are cylinder shaped, but also come in square and rectangular shapes.
 
Growing in popularity, pillar candles are a common way to decorate homes and events. With such a large variety of sizes, they can be used to serve a number of various decorating purposes. Small pillars are only a few inches tall, while the larger pillars are a few feet tall.

Often pillars will be accompanied with some kind of holder or candle decor. They can be encased in a lantern type holder, sit atop a tall pillar-type holder, or be wrapped in ribbon or plastic vines. The simple look of pillar candles makes them adaptable to create various themes or atmospheres, commonly through the use of various holders and decor.

Also note that pillar candles burn differently than other candles. They should be lit on a level surface away from windows or vents that might cause a draft. They aren’t designed pool out and break through the outside edge, but is designed to hold the wax within the candle, allowing it to glow. Allow it to burn for two to three hours the first time it is lit.
