Scented Candles
Scented candles account for approximately three-fourths of all candles sold in America. There are about two thousand various aroma chemicals and essential oils that manufactures have to choose from to mix and create different scents. Candle companies will work closely with fragrance companies to create pleasantly scented formulas that will burn safely. Currently there are an estimated 10,000 various candle scents available.
Most consumers feel that fragrance is the most important factor when picking a candle. Scented candles are also preferred highest among other air freshening alternatives. The aroma from a candle is created by the evaporation of the fragrance from the hot wax pool created as the candle burns. The aromas produce will rarely create an allergic reaction, except to those with highly sensitive allergies, but still it is always a good idea to place candles in well ventilated areas.
When using a scented candle to aromatize a room, consider the size of the room when choosing the candle. Pick a large candle or several small candles for a large room and a small candle for a small room. Although some candles are more richly scented than others, the size of the candle is a large contributor to aromatizing a room. Over or under aromatizing a room can sometimes detract from the scent and negate the purpose of the candle.
